I celebrated my fortieth birthday this year. I decided that this is the year to upgrade the way that I moisturize my face. I researched various carrier oils and essential oils and created this awesome homemade organic firming anti-aging face serum. This organic face serum is easy to make and works great!
In less than a week I noticed very positive results. My face appeared much more firm and I even appeared well-rested, which I can assure you that I am not! I highly recommend making your own organic facial serum, it saves you money and is fun to do.
Last year my face cleansing routine was cleansing using the oil cleanse method (OCM) and then I would slather Vitamin E Oilon my face and that is it. This year I have added two new steps to my facial care routine. First, I began to use kombucha aloe facial toner after cleansing. Once the toner dries I apply this facial serum. It takes a bit more time but honestly I am in and out in less than five minutes. I do this routine in the morning and before bed and I am loving the results!
Face Serum Indgredients
These are the ingredients that I chose to use in this homemade facial serum (I use all organic ingredients):
Rosehip Oil penetrates deeply into the lower layers of the skin. It regenerates cells and
increases collagen production. It also brightens and tightens the skin! Rosehip oil helps restore skin’s elasticity, fade age spots, reduce broken capillaries, and balance oil glands. It is very beneficial to dry, irritated and mature skin.
Sweet Almond Oilis full of vitamins D, E, B1, B2 and B6, calcium, potassium, and magnesium. Vitamin E helps fight wrinkles and has a firming effect on the skin. Using sweet almond oil daily can greatly reduce dark circles under the eyes as well as scars and dark spots. Almond Oil is very light and absorbs easily, it is wonderful at nourishing dehydrated skin.
Cypress Oil
is a powerful firming oil. It improves circulation, strengthens blood capillaries, is antibacterial, anti-infectious, and anti-microbial. Cypress oil is amazing for varicose veins and broken capillaries.
Frankincense Oil has skin regenerating properties. It is an astringent, meaning it tightens and balances pH. It helps to even skin tone as well as reducing the appearance of scars and spots. Frankincense is antiseptic and antibacterial.
Geranium Oil is great for regenerating skin and is extremely healing. It also helps to even the distribution of melanin which helps to even out the overall tone of the skin.
Carrot Seed Oil
has a rejuvenating effect on the skin. It not only works to help smooth skin, but assists with cell regeneration. For this reason, it can help to fade scars and improve the tone of aging skin.

Hi in your recipe for anti aging serum it doesn’t state how much Rosehip oil to use ,T.Ycarol
Thank you for bringing that to my attention, oops! I just fixed it. It is 2 Tablespoons of Rosehip Oil. Hope you love it as much as I do!
Hi i am a big fan of your home made anti ageing essential oils ..
Do you have any for brightening and pigmentation?
Hello,
i see that nowadays most skincare brand added Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, if i want to add it into the formula, how much is the proportion i can made a face oil non greasy and easy to absorb?
Do you have a brand of essential oils you love? There are so many companies and their prices range so much, not sure which is best.
I have a local shop that I like to buy from, I can see if there is a link and if so post it here. I don’t buy from the big companies name brand companies, that is just my choice.

Hi Sharon,
I feel that this serum is suitable for all women, all skin-types. Good luck!
Angela
Hi Angela. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. As there is a shortage of rosehip oil worldwide, what is the next best carrier oil to substitute it with?
Thank you.
Hi, your recipe looks fab 🙂 is it suitable in the 1st trimester of pregnancy though? Thanks
I am from India. I never know much English. I know Hindi very well. So ignore my mistakes. I had used homemade serum it is good but after apply it on face I feel headache. What can I do.
Meena, I would recommend going through each essential oil, using one per day, morning only and apply 2-3 drops mixed with 6-9 drops of pure carrier oil and massage in face. You may have an allergy to one or more of them and/or are using too many drops of the serum from recipe above. By using each one separately, you can see if either are giving you headache. Even with using the serum, better to mix only 2-3 drops with a pure oil (recommended; for each 1 drop essential oil, add 3 drops carrier oil such as jojoba, coconut, olive oil, etc.). We are directed by essential oil companies and their labels to be cautious about applying the essential oils alone directly to skin because it can cause burns and other irritations. When making the serum above, you can add a pure oil with it, then before each use, flip bottle few times (not shake) to mix. 3 drops pure carrier oil to 1 drop pure essential oil.
Could this be used or mixed into coconut oil and shea butter to be used as a lotion?
Hi I’ve just turned 40 too and still suffer from acne from time to time. What oils do u recommend I use for aging and acne?
How about for under the eye bags
Hi Angela,
I’m glad I came across your blog. I’ve been trying to find an all natural anti aging serum that I can give to my mom. She’s 63, and I’m sure she’ll love this. I will be making one for myself too. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Jenny! I hope that you both love it, thank you for stopping by.
Hi Angela,
Thanks for the reply. Mom and I tried your recipe, and we both loved it! Now, Mom’s asking me to make her a whole lot of things, like face masks and body butters haha! But how do I properly store this? And how long can I use this batch? Thanks again!
I made firming oil with your ingredient. Face feels a little tingling and little uncomfortable. Any suggestion for this? Also if I use this in the morning, I’m worried about UV on oil
It sounds like you may be sensitive to one of the oils, I would discontinue use until you find out what one is bothering you.
Thank you SO much for this, I look forward to making it. Does it need to be stored in a refrigerator? How long will it last. Thank you. Warm regards, Rene
Glad you like it! I just keep it in my bathroom, no need to refrigerate. It will last for several months. Enjoy!
Hai angela..may i know shelf life for your diy serum recipe?
